# Binance

> Trade on your own Binance account from DeFiLoops: what is built, what runs today on Binance's demo exchange, and what changes when real-money trading starts

**In short:** you connect your own Binance account with a trade-only API key. Our hardware enclave derives the key, so nobody outside it holds the secret. You sign a lock and a grant with your wallet. The agent then places orders on Binance inside those limits.

**Binance runs on Binance's demo exchange today. Real-money trading is coming soon.**

Your money stays in your own Binance account. We never hold it. We hold only a key that can trade and cannot withdraw. Read [trading venues](https://docs.defiloops.com/venues/overview.md) first for the security model all venues share.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Demo only today.** The Binance page in the app connects to Binance's demo trading. Orders move play money. Do not deposit real funds for DeFiLoops to use. Real-money trading is not switched on.

## What works today, and what does not

| Cancel an order, close a futures position | yes | No grant needed |
| Take-profit and stop-loss on futures | paused | Setting them is refused until the sync of your fills is switched on. [Trading](https://docs.defiloops.com/venues/binance/trading.md#take-profit-and-stop-loss-on-futures) |
| Stop a card: close mode or cancel all | yes | [Cards on Binance](https://docs.defiloops.com/venues/binance/cards.md#stop-a-card) |
| Spot and futures balances in the app | yes | A snapshot read when you ask. No open positions |
| Fills that arrive after an order is placed | built, not switched on | The app shows what filled when the order was placed |
| European options | no | On real money you can allow options on the key. The agent places no options orders yet. Demo has no options |
| Spot take-profit and stop-loss | not built | Futures only |

## Who holds what

| piece | who holds it | what it can do |
| - | - | - |
| your Binance login and money | you | everything, including withdrawals |
| the API key on binance.com | Binance, switched on or off by you | trade. It cannot withdraw. |
| the trading key's secret half | the enclave only | sign orders after the enclave's checks |
| the lock and your grant signatures | you, with your wallet | set the markets, leverage and limits |
| the queue of orders to send | our servers | pass orders to the enclave. They hold no key. |

See [safety](https://docs.defiloops.com/venues/binance/safety.md) for what the enclave checks and what a breach on our side could and could not do.

## What is different on demo

Binance's demo exchange does not offer some of the safety checks that real Binance does. On demo:

* **No address lock.** Demo API keys cannot be restricted to trusted IP addresses. On real money, a key without that lock is refused.
* **Withdrawal flags are not checked.** Demo does not report whether a key may withdraw or transfer. We cannot verify it. Leave those permissions off anyway.
* **No options.** Demo cannot trade European options, so you connect spot and futures only.
* **Play money.** Fills, prices and balances come from Binance's demo exchange. They do not prove how a real account will behave.

## When real-money trading starts

We switch real-money trading on ourselves. We give no date. When it starts:

* **Every check applies.** The key must have an IP restriction on Binance. Binance enforces which addresses it allows. The key must have no withdrawal, universal transfer or internal transfer permission. The enclave refuses it otherwise.
* **Options can be allowed.** You can allow European options on a real-money key. The agent does not place options orders yet: no card or grant fires one.
* **Your demo grants do not carry over.** When real-money trading starts, the enclave refuses any grant signed before then, and the app shows that grant as invalid. Arm again by signing a new grant.
* **Your lock does carry over.** The markets and leverage ceiling you set on demo also apply to real money, so check them on the lock page before real-money trading starts.
* **Start small.** Real fills can lose real money inside your limits, as the [caveats](https://docs.defiloops.com/venues/binance/safety.md#what-this-does-not-protect-you-from) say.

The steps and the exits are the same as on demo. Grants you signed on demo do not carry over, as the point above says.

## Under the hood

*For readers who want the mechanism.*

* The enclave holds one sealed secret for Binance. It derives each Binance trading key from that secret, for your wallet, your account and a key number. No key is stored anywhere, inside or outside the enclave.
* Every request that uses your key is signed inside the enclave, and the secure connection ends inside it. Requests leave only through a fixed allow-list of Binance hosts.
* The enclave writes each decision to a log before it signs. If the log cannot be written, it signs nothing.
* The order id is derived from the grant and the run number, so a repeat is harmless.
